AMPLIFIED 2015 Pre FACI Meeting is Live!

Hey AIESEC,

Amplified 2015 is underway. The FACIs arrived last night at the venue for the amazing conference. It was a very long drive from Guango to Nakuru that lasted roughly three hours. The reception at the venue was very warm and the hospitality is topnotch. You all need to have a feel of this amazing place, not leaving out the very comfortable rooms which you also need to get a taste of.

The FACIs settled in there various rooms and had dinner which was finger-licking, after which we had a little hangout which accelerated getting to know each other. Hence, it is safe to say it was a long night but fun packed the same time.

All in all, the venue is amazingly cool. The hospitality is on check. You can't afford to be left out!
See you all at the AMPLIFIED CONFERENCE 2015!!!!!

Three Days with Branham Anamon | AI VP Operations (Africa)

The Reception.

Three days with Branham Anamon started on Tuesday, 20th October 2015. Dennis Lugano (President, AIESEC in Kenya) picked up MR ANAMON from the airport. It was a very warm welcome from the Members of the MC (Member Committee). We had all been looking forward to meeting with the AIESEC International representative in the person of Branham Anamon to provide answers to questions which have been left unanswered. That being said, when he arrived it was safe to say "THE MESSIAH HAD COME HOME" Karibu Kenya.

DAY 1 - 20th October 2015

The visit started with the explanation of the agenda by Branham. After which we moved in to a short GTKEO (Get to know each other) session in which we shared our names and “what the AIVP did not know about the individual”. Next was the “who we are” session which involved a drawing activity and sharing three most interesting and random things about you. After this, we went into a more intimate session where members of the MC team shared those things they like and don’t like about each other (if any) .

The second session commenced. “The Movement”
Here we talked on lengths about where we are coming from and where we are headed to as a global network. How AIESEC started with an idea of six people to now over 80,000 members. Here we established that AIESEC should not be perceived as an organization but as a MOVEMENT. AIESEC should be something that lives in individuals.

DAY 2 - 21st October 2015

The bulk of the coaching happened on this day. We discussed further on the AIESEC International 15/16 plan, the logic, strategies and projects embedded in it, some of which include YouthSpeak, CC for Students and Partners, AIESEC 2020 amongst others. After this we received a "cheque" from the Bank of Reality... "Reality Check" ;-), in this space we were furnished with information of the current state of the entity and how we are perceived as an entity at the Global Office.

Day 3 - 22nd October 2015

The final day, we all did not want Mr Branham to leave! :( But oh well. On this day we were consolidating ideas and creating output on how we plan to relay the information we had received from Branham to the National plenary. After which representatives of AIESEC in KeMU and USIU came around. They got to ask him some questions which he answered. Hence, the photo session, which was guided by Her Excellency, Sandra Agyekum (MCVP TM)

Nikhil Narayanan - Untold Stories | AIESEC in Kenya

My AIESEC experience in Kenya

I was a teacher at a slum school in southern Nairobi for about 7 weeks, working through AIESEC in JKUAT. Without exaggeration, the experience was probably the best in my life, for many reasons. The first being it threw me so far out of my comfort zone that I needed to rethink my own world view, re-evaluate and create a new one. Walking into, and working in a slum is something I have never experienced before, therefore my own mind and body did not know what to expect, nor how to react to the situation; the slum is cramped, dirty, filled with substandard housing as you’d expect, and most importantly is the feeling of not belonging and being an outsider to the situation. One biggest learning experience I gained was observing my own self reacting and adapting to the new situation.
Teaching the students melted me both inside and outside. Seeing the joy [as a result of our presence as interns] in both the baby classes and the older classes gave me some perspective; what this experience meant to me meant even more to the kids that I was teaching, and the school that I helped run. The students are highly intelligent, the kids (baby class) are full of energy emanating a spark of light that I haven’t seen anywhere else, or in anyone else. Seeing and experiencing such things makes you drop inhibitions in life and rethink your own perspective and position in the world. Not only does it make you open your mind significantly, but you realize that you can only really change a small portion of the world around you, but what you finally do change, is an extremely impressionable, lifelong change on both who you change and yourself.

How our EPs feel After Experiencing Kenya!---EP UNTOLD STORIES

          Hello!
This is a story from one of our EPs who recently experienced a 3month exchange here in Kenya with AIESEC JKUAT.
"I would sincerely like to thank AIESEC - JKUAT for allowing me to come and experience Kenya in the most fantastic way possible. The reason that I came to Kenya was because I knew absolutely nothing about it. Now, after 3 months, I can say that I have learned quite a bit, both about Kenya and myself. For that, I cannot thank AIESEC - JKUAT enough.
